Passive House National Conference

posted by Jay on 11/08/2010

Given the proximity to this conference, being held in Portland, OR, and the concurrence of being able to take the certification exam, I attended this three-plus day event and learned a lot more about the methods and construction details.

Keynote presenters included:

  • Dr. Wolfgang Feist, Founder and Director, Passivhaus Institut, Darmstadt, Germany
  • Jens Laustsen, Senior Energy Efficiency Policy Analyst, International Energy Agency
  • Robert Hastings, Energy Consultant and Architect, and Professor Emeritus of the Donau University, Krems, Austria

Two days filled with many informative talks on all aspects of PH. Some noteworthy projects included a few by Habitat for Humanity in Vermont, Washington D.C., and Kentucky; projects in the extreme cold climate of Fairbanks Alaska, by Thorsten Clupp; and a closing plenary by Dr. Feist and Amory Lovins (Rocky Mountain Institute).

A link to the presentations is here.
